I have been a nurse-midwife for ten years now, after following a circuitous route to midwifery.
I have a bachelor's degree in biochemistry (SUNY at Binghamton), followed by a master's degree in medical anthropology, also from SUNY Binghamtom. During this program of study, I worked with midwives in women's health care. This experience made me realize that being a midwife is exciting, rewarding and would fulfill my professional goals most fully.
I attended Frontier School of Midwifery in Hyden, Kentucky and received another master's degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. It has been a great ten years of meeting women and their families from all over the world during an incredible milestone in their lives.
My goal is to work in a setting and create an environment where women can give birth in a way that they have always dreamed. The exciting part is that everyone has different dreams and hopes regarding their childbirth. These different dreams and hopes are realized within the UCLA Midwifery practice, an incredible group of midwives committed to providing safe, evidence-based care during pregnancy and birth.
I was born in Tehran, Iran and grew up in the US, mostly Syracuse, New York. I love living in the Westwood area, close to work and reasonablt close to my family in Orange County.
