Many people think that postpartum doulas are there only for the baby, but we are there to help the entire family take proper care of their newborn, while getting the much-needed rest they deserve. Postpartum doula support moms mentally, physically and emotionally. All beginnings are hard, but with the help of a postpartum doula a new mom can transform the baby blues into baby heaven.

You will receive a Joy In Birthing  postpartum birthkeeper training manual which contains a list of certification requirements, study guide, reading list, projects to be completed, up to date information.    

Postpartum Doulas can choose to operate as only postpartum practitioners or in combination with a labor support doula practice. Midwives will greatly benefit from this training as well.

Postpartum doulas decide what their practice covers. Generally they offer

  • Education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester
  • Assistance with newborn care, family adjustment
  • Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary
The presence of a postpartum doula  has been known to reduce or minimize the risk of postpartum depression.

 Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made by email to [email protected]  60 days prior departure.
Joy In Birthing reserves the right to cancel any program at any time.

  • If you cancel your reservation more than 60 full days before the start of your workshop:  all money paid, less the non-refundable deposit of , will be refunded to the applicant by Joy In Birthing
  • If you cancel a workshop with less than 60 days notice:  Applicants who, for whatever reasons (illness, professional obligations, etc.) find themselves unable to participate in the course and have not cancelled 60 days prior to the start of training, are responsible for paying the tuition in full.
  • If You Have Applied for a Scholarship /Assistant Program: if you have applied for a scholarship and we have sold them out, we will, at your request, refund your fee in full if you cancel your reservation at least 30 full days prior to the start of the workshop, or apply it for the non-scholarship/assistant price .
* Joy In Birthing retains the sole right to revoke the participation in this training of any individual participant, at its discretion. JIB also retains the right to cancel this training up to and until 30 days prior to the first day of the course, should there not be a minimum number of 10 participants who have paid their tuition in full. In such a case, all moneys received by Joy In Birthing from applicants shall be promptly refunded.
